Blooming August-Oct, this lobelia produces blue blooms with a while mark. It tends to bloom on one side of a talk and the whole plant is hairy, hence the name of downy. It is a native herbaceous perennial wildflower. It prefers sun to part shade and dry to moist soil. Bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds are attracted to the blooms of this plant. It is tolerant of deer and wet soils. It grows 1-3 ft tall and 3-6 ft wide. Zones 4-9.
