The late summer edible nuts of this easy to grow native shrub are attractive to birds, squirrels and people.  Fall color ranges form yellow to wine-red. Also known as American filbert, this shrub grows 6-12 ft. and is naturally found in thickets, upland forests and rocky hillsides.
