Bloodroot (Sanguinaria canadensis)

from 9.95

Bloodroot is an early spring ephemeral that colonizes the forest floor. The fragrant, pure white flower emerges wrapped in the deeply scalloped leaf, blooming as the leaf unfurls.  Leaves will continue to grow after flowering then disappear in mid-summer.  Attractive to early bees. Native Americans used the plant's orange-red sap for dye & insect repellent. 6-9 inches tall.
