Coral Honeysuckle (Lonicera sempervirens)

11.95

Easy to grow, multi-purpose native vine. Prefers an average to rich soil, but will tolerate most that are well drained. The woody stem offers interest with papery, exfoliating bark.  Followed up by semi-evergreen to evergreen foliage. Beginning mid to late spring, clusters of red tubular flowers open sporting yellow stamen. Just in time to welcome hummingbirds, bees and butterflies, who aid in pollination while feeding on the nectar.  Continuing to bloom intermittently through early fall, when bright red berries replace the blooms to feed a variety of birds. Can also boast about being a larval host.  Blooms best in full sun, but can tolerate partial shade.  Given time and support it could reach 15'.  Plant, grow and enjoy the show!

Leaves can be chewed then applied to bee stings for relief.

Vines can been used in making baskets.
