Dwarf Larkspur (Delphinium tricorne)

15.75

Dwarf larkspur grows 8-24 inches tall with deep blue to purple flowers that bloom from March to May. The finely cut, palmately lobed leaves are very attractive. It is typically found in damp to dry woods and is widespread in the eastern 2/3 of Tennessee and the eastern United States.  Valuable to native bees. The name tricorne comes from the three horn-like fruit pods. Larkspurs contain a harmful alkaloid that can poison grazing cattle.
