Golden Seal (Hydrastis canadensis)

from 9.95

Native to deep, rich woods, Goldenseal is a good groundcover for moist, shady areas.  It is 6-12 in. tall, with 3 shiny, maple-shaped leaves, a white flower with yellow stamens followed by a tight cluster of red fruit. The knotty yellow rhizomes were used medicinally by Native Americans and colonists and is still in use today.  However, due to over-collection, this plant is now very rare.
