Iron Butterfly Ironweed (Vernonia lettermannii)

11.95

This fine-textured cultivar of ironweed grows to 30-36 inches in height and width. Its purple flowers in late summer are attractive to many butterfly species. Performs best in full sun and average to dry soil with good drainage, but can withstand brief periods of inundation which makes this a good rain garden plant. Ironweed is very tolerant of hot, dry locations as well. This species was named for famous botanist George W. Letterman.
