False indigo bush is a fast-growing, 6-10 ft. tall shrub with an airy character that forms dense thickets along river and stream banks. The leaflets have a velvety underside and the purple flower spikes are fragrant, blooming April - June.  A larval host for the Gray Hairstreak, Silver-spotted Skipper & Hoary Edge Skipper. Deer resistant.
