Native from North Carolina south to Florida, west to central Texas, and as far north as Illinois, Red Buckeye is a handsome shrub or small tree with showy 6-10 inch long flower clusters of deep red in spring. The fine-toothed, glossy dark green leaves may drop by the end of summer, so place this shrub accordingly. Seeds and young shoots are poisonous.
