Shenandoah Switchgrass (Panicum virgatum 'Shenandoah')

11.95

Shenandoah Switchgrass has steely blue-green upright foliage that slowly turns burgundy as the season progresses. By late fall, the stunning red color is enhanced by delicate, small red flower plumes that float above the foliage.  A larval host plant for many banded skippers and satyrs.  When used in masses, they provide nest sites, cover and food for birds. This grass thrives in a variety of conditions, but prefers sandy loam soils in full to partial sun. Drought tolerant once established, yet will tolerate wet, soggy soils for short periods. Deer resistant.

Zones: 4-9

Light: sun, partial shade
