Tennessee Naturescapes specializes in quality grown native trees, shrubs, wildflowers, ferns and grasses for a wide variety of landscapes, from the home garden to large restoration or green infrastructure projects.

Our Mission

Lori McAlister started Tennessee Naturescapes in her back yard in 2007 in response to the need for more commercially available native plants.  Lori and her team are passionate about the stewardship of our natural heritage and educating the public on creating habitats for declining species such as the Monarch butterfly, honeybees and birds.

Our plants are propagated from locally sourced, legally harvested seed and parent material so that they are best suited to our soils and climate, as well as to the fauna that rely on them for food and shelter.

Quality plants begin with quality soil.  We incorporate composted leaves and organic fertilizer into our growing medium so that our plants will thrive in their new home with the appropriate growing conditions and care.

Tennessee Naturescapes is concerned about the impacts of neonicotinoid pesticides on our pollinator friends that we rely upon for our food supply.  This class of insecticides is widely used on agricultural crops and ornamental plants.  We do not use neonicotinoids in our growing process and encourage others not to purchase them for home use.  Promoting native plantings is something we all can do to reduce the need for pesticide application in our backyards and public landscapes.
