Evergreen. Forms clumps over time. A good plant for massing on slopes to combat soil erosion. Plant in shade gardens, shadier borders areas, along walls or foundations. Rabbit, Deer, Drought, Heavy Shade, Erosion, Dry Soil and Shallow-Rocky Soil Tolerant.

Christmas fern is common to eastern North America and its evergreen nature provides winter interest to the woodland garden. It forms a clump, and will grow in almost any condition, including rocky or poor soils.
